How to Install an NVMe SSD
Step 1
You'll need a small screwdriver (usually Phillips or Torx) and an anti-static wrist strap or mat to prevent electrostatic discharge
Step 2
Ensure that your laptop supports NVMe SSDs and has an available M.2 slot.
You can refer to the laptop's manual or specifications to confirm this.
Step 3
Shut down your laptop completely and unplug it from the power source.
Remove the battery if possible.
Step 4
Depending on your laptop model, the M.2 slot may be located on the bottom of the laptop, underneath a panel, or under the keyboard.
Refer to your laptop's manual for the precise location.
Step 5
Remove the screws or clips securing the access panel or keyboard, if necessary.
Gently lift the panel or keyboard to expose the internal components.
Step 6
Identify the M.2 slot, which is a small rectangular socket.
Align the notches on the SSD with the slot and insert it at a 30-degree angle. Apply gentle pressure until the SSD is fully seated in the slot.
Step 7
Once the SSD is properly inserted, use the screw(s) provided with the laptop or SSD to secure it in place.
Tighten the screw(s) carefully, but avoid overtightening.
Step 8
Put the access panel or keyboard back in place, securing it with the screws or clips.
Make sure everything is aligned correctly.
Step 9
Reconnect the power source and turn on your laptop. Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings and check if the SSD is detected.
If necessary, initialize the SSD and format it using the operating system's disk management tool.

Use the screw(s) provided with the motherboard or SSD to secure the NVMe SSD in place. Tighten the screw(s) carefully, but avoid overtightening.
Step 8
Put the PCIe slot covers back in place, if applicable. Ensure all cables are properly connected and secure any panels or covers you removed earlier.
Step 9
Reconnect the power source and turn on your desktop PC. Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings and check if the SSD is detected. If necessary, initialize the SSD and format it using the operating system's disk management tool.
