How to Install Laptop / SO-DIMM Memory RAM
Step 1
You will need a small Phillips screwdriver and an antistatic wrist strap (optional but recommended).

Make sure your laptop is turned off completely and disconnected from any power source.

Find a flat, well-lit area. Use a non-static surface like a wooden table or anti-static mat.
Step 4
Unscrew the cover panel(s) that secure the RAM compartment. These panels are usually held in place with small screws. Set the screws aside safely.
Step 5
Most laptops have an accessible RAM compartment underneath. Refer to the user manual or manufacturer's website for the RAM slot location.
Step 6
Align the notch on the SODIMM RAM module with the notch on the slot, carefully ensuring proper orientation, and insert it at an angle of approximately 45 degrees.
Step 7
Once inserted, apply even pressure with your fingers to gently push the module down until the retaining clips snap back into place, securely locking the RAM in position.
Step 8
Ensure that the SODIMM module is seated properly in the slot. Then, reattach the cover panel(s) and secure them with the screws you removed earlier.
Step 9
Once the cover is fastened, plug in the power and turn on your laptop. The system should detect the new RAM, and you can verify by checking the RAM in the operating system or BIOS.
That's it! You have successfully installed SODIMM RAM into your laptop. Remember to take proper precautions, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and consult your laptop's documentation for any specific guidance related to your device.
How to Install Desktop / U-DIMM Memory RAM
Step 1
Make sure you have the correct type and speed of RAM compatible with your motherboard. Check your motherboard's specifications or manual for this information.
Shut down your computer and unplug it from the power source.
Ground yourself by touching a grounded metal surface or wearing an anti-static wrist strap. This helps prevent damage from static electricity.
Step 2
Remove the screws or fasteners securing the side panel of your computer case.
Slide off the side panel to expose the internal components.
Step 3
Identify the RAM slots on your motherboard. They are typically located near the CPU socket.
Check how many slots are available and note which slots are currently occupied.
Step 4
If there are already RAM modules installed in the slots you want to use, gently press down on the retaining clips on both ends of the slot.
This will release the module, allowing you to carefully pull it straight out of the slot.
Step 5
Handle the RAM module by its edges, avoiding touching the gold connectors or any exposed circuitry.
Align the notch on the bottom of the RAM module with the notch in the RAM slot.
Insert the RAM module into the slot at a slight angle, making sure it is firmly seated.
Apply even pressure to both ends of the module until it clicks into place.
If you are installing multiple modules, repeat this process for each one.
Step 6
Once the RAM modules are correctly installed, gently push them down until the retaining clips on both ends click into place.
This ensures that the modules are securely held in the slots.
Step 7
Slide the side panel back onto the case.
Secure it with the screws or fasteners you removed earlier.
Step 8
Plug in the power cable and any other peripherals you disconnected.
Turn on your computer and wait for it to boot up.
Step 9
Check the your system's properties or use a diagnostic tool to confirm that the new RAM is detected and functioning correctly.
If you are using Windows, right click the "Start" button and click system. Under "Installed RAM", the RAM running in the computer will be listed.
